The lovely team are putting on a big event at the Solway Showgrounds on the 2nd August 2025 – we’ll be there from 10am till 1ish. They have 40 odd stalls coming, with everything equestrian right through to lifestyle and craft offerings. The Showjumping is also on, so lots to see and do.
We’re also coming along, to give the Cat Caravan an outing and we’d love to see you. We have a few things going on for this, so do come say hi, have a cup of tea and enter the guess the worms competition!
The lovely Pru from the Donkey and Mule Protection Society is going to bring a couple of donkeys for a meet and greet. She’s an absolute wealth of donkey knowledge, so come armed with questions. I’m also going to do a donkey talk at 10.30am to discuss many of the veterinary aspects involved with having donkeys in New Zealand.
I’m then going to do a second talk around 12.30 about cats – ‘why is my cat a prat?’. Hopefully, it will be a humorous and informative talk about why cats do weird things and some ideas on what we can do to help them.
We’re going to have some goodie bags to give away, and hopefully (hopefully! subject to there being some that won’t find it overwhelming!) we’re going to bring a couple of kittens from the SPCA to meet. My kids are getting busy making cat cupcakes to sell to help raise funds for the SPCA (and a little for their own savings, full disclosure), plus they are making a ‘guess the number of worms in a jar’ – don’t worry, they’re lollies, not real worms..
Plus, there are also some temporary cat tattoos for you or your kids, and there’s a colouring competition to enter. We’re also going to have a 10% off all flea and worm treatments sold on the day, so swing by if you’d like to stock up – we have Bravecto, Bravecto Plus, Advantage and Milbemax so a bit of choice.
