Reproductive Ultrasound: Cycle Management & Pregnancy Scanning
- We use a specialised ultrasound probe designed for equine reproductive examinations, allowing us to:
- Track mare cycles before insemination
- Confirm pregnancy at an early stage
- Perform post-insemination checks
- Manage twin pregnancies
- Conduct flushing and other reproductive procedures
Our battery-powered, portable ultrasound machine allows us to scan at your property, provided there is a safe, solid area for the vet to stand behind the mare, plus a handler to assist. Alterntively, stocks facilities are available at Panorama Equestrian, in Gladstone which we can arrange for this purpose.
Tendon & Joint Scanning
Ultrasound is an essential tool for diagnosing and monitoring tendon, ligament, and joint injuries.
Common uses include:
- Assessing bowed tendons and ligament injuries
- Diagnosing subtle lameness issues after a workup
- Detecting proximal suspensory desmitis, a hidden but significant issue in performance horses
